PhenQ Review: Does It Work For Weight Loss?
Weight loss is big business. With the obesity epidemic well and truly out of control, people have become desperate in their attempts to beat body fat and claim all of the benefits that come with healthy weight. As a result, the weight loss industry, and specifically the weight loss supplements market is a multi-billion dollar empire which is fattening the wallets of supplement companies the world over.
There are a LOT of fat loss supplements on the market. Each of these diet pills claims to be able to fast track fat loss and help propel the use control of their body weight and achieve their dream body.
Most of them don’t.
That’s why we were very intrigued when we began to hear that there was one of those weight loss supplements that did – or so its users were claiming.
We decided to do an in-depth review of this product so that we – and you – could get the facts.
The body weight fat burner in question is PhenQ and this is the place to get the knowledge you need to decide if it’s right for you. PhenQ reviews generally skim over the surface – this PhenQ review dives deep.
What Is PhenQ?
PhenQ is a weight loss supplement that is provided in capsule form. Unlike many other diet pills, which just focus on a single method to achieving fat loss, PhenQ works through 5 separate mechanisms as follows:
PhenQ is a Phentermine alternative. It does not contain Phentermine, which is virtually impossible to get in the US without a prescription. However, PhenQ ingredients combine a number of completely natural ingredients in an attempt to mimic the effects of Phentermine and help to lose weight fast.
Phentermine is one of those stimulant fat loss supplements which acts in a similar way to burn fat as an amphetamine.
A key effect that PhenQ ingredients have on the body is to reduce the appetite to help you lose weight. This helps a person to maintain a caloric deficit, which is a key factor in long term weight loss.
So, before we delve into the specific ingredients contained in PhenQ diet pills, let’s get familiar with the product that it mimics – phentermine.
Phentermine Up Close
Phentermine is a man-made compound which was first marketed in combination with a drug named fenfluramine. The blend was sold as a product called Fen-Phen. However, this product was banned in a number of countries because fenfluramine was discovered to cause heart damage.
No adverse effects were found with phentermine diet pills and they have remained on the US market and that of many countries around the world.
Phentermine can be found under a number of brands names as well as generic capsules and tablets. These brand names include:
These are all diet pills designed to allow you to lose weight fast.
Phnentermine is classified as a psychostimulant drug. This means that it produces a temporary improvement in a person’s physical or mental abilities. It is also listed as a substitute for amphetamines and as an anorexiany, or appetite suppressant.
How Does Phentermine Help A Person Lose Weight?
There is a good body of research that confirms the ability of phentermine to promote weight loss. In addition to this clinical evidence, there is a lot of anecdotal evidence from people the world over who have achieved success with this diet pill.
So, just how does phentermine help you to lose weight?
Phentermine acts upon the brain to stimulate the release of chemicals that tell your mind that you are not hungry. As a result, you eat less and lose weight. Phentermine can also lower the amount of fat and starch that is absorbed by the body. As a result, less fat and starch is metabolized into the system and carried as excess energy.
For many people the middle of the night is the most dangerous time as far as piling on the pounds go. They get hit with midnight food carvings and, inevitably, find themselves shoveling high sugar, low nutrient into their body. Phentermine helps to defeat these cravings and, therefore, avoids that excess calorie gain.
The recommended phentermine dosage for use as a weight loss aid is 30 mg per day.
Phentermine should be taken in the morning on an empty stomach. You should then wait between 30 and 40 minutes before eating breakfast.
If after, a week or two of use, you are not experiencing any side effects, you can consider upping the dosage to two 30 mg pills per day.
Doctors generally recommend to their patients that they take phentermine for a period of 3-6 weeks and then take a break for about the same length of time. This is to prevent it from becoming addictive and to promote long term health.
Phentermine Side Effects
There have been a number of side effects that have been noted for phentermine. These include . . .
These side effects will not affect the majority of people. Most people experience mild side effects.
Phentermine should never be mixed with alcohol. Phentermine is a stimulant, whereas alcohol has a depressant effect on the human body. When the body is stimulated and depressed at the same time, it is prone to react negatively.
Is Phentermine Safe?
Yes. When it is taken by most people at a dosage of 30 mg or below, phentermine is safe. However, people with an history of heart or breathing problems should not take phentermine.
Over the years there have been concerns that phentermine use can lead to withdrawal symptoms that are similar to those experienced by people who are addicted to amphetamines. However, more recent research shows that the withdrawal process is not as bad as was thought.
It should be noted that phentermine has never been approved for long term use. You should, therefore, not use it for more than 12 weeks straight.
Phentermine has a half-life of twenty-five hours. That means that, after 25 hours, half of it will still remain in your body. After five half lives it will be completely gone from your system. In pother words it q2wiull remain in your body for around five days.
How PhenQ Mimics Phentermine
PhenQ acts through the following 5 mechanisms to produce weight loss . . .
A-Lacy’s Reset was brought out in 2013. It is a blend of alpha-lipoic acid and cysteine that comes as a proprietary blend. This means that we do not know the specific dosages of these two ingredients. It is produced by Nutraceuticals International Group, who are based in New Jersey and have been around for 35 years.
The two ingredients in the product are both strong antioxidant and weight loss effects on their own. When combined they deliver an even more powerful symbiotic effect. Let’s take a closer look at both of them . . .
Alpha-Lipoic Acid has an antioxidant effect on the body. This helps to control blood glucose levels, especially after eating sugary carb foods. It also reduces inflammation, improves nerve function and provides numerous other benefits.
You will often see n-acetyl cysteine listed on the ingredients list of various products. You may just assume that this is cysteine. However, it is actual the precursor to cysteine, which is an amino acid. That means that the body needs to convert it into cysteine before you can benefit from it.
However, a-Lacy’s Reset requires the actual amino acid cysteine, meaning that it will act immediately once it enters your system. Cysteine also has powerful antioxidant benefits that provide numerous health benefits. Cysteine has also been shown to help regulate the glutamatergic system and improve neurotransmitter pathways.
How a-Lacys Reset Helps You Lose Weight
Though it was originally designed as a way to defeat oxidative stress, a-Lacys Reset has been shown to also help with weight loss. The science behind how it does so are pretty scientific, so let’s try to keep it as simple as possible.
It Helps To Improve ATP Synthesis
ATP is a molecule in your cells that carries energy. It converts the chemical energy in food into working energy. A-Lacy’s Reset improves this process, providing you with more efficient and abundant energy. You will be less fatigued and more ready to take on your workouts or other calorie burning activities.
Reduces Oxidative Stress
A-Lacy Reset is a very powerful antioxidant. As such it helps to prevent the damage caused by free radical molecules to your DNA, kidneys and other organs. The oxidative stress caused by free radical damage can also lead to cardiovascular disease and premature aging of the skin.
Lipolysis is the scientific term for the breakdown of fat into energy. A- Lacy’s Reset promotes lipolysis. As a result, it primes the body for rapid fat loss. When combined with a calorie restricted diet, you will see some impressive results.
Many people find that when they go on a calorie restricted diet, they end up losing more than fat. Because they are not getting enough protein, they actually lose muscle tissue. This is not a good thing. The great thing about a-Lacy’s Reset is that it also has an anabolic effect on the body. That means that it promotes a muscle sparing and muscle building state.
This combination of boosting fat loss while also promoting anabolism make a-Lacy’s Reset an excellent ingredient for anyone who is after a lean, muscular physique.
Controls Lactic Acid Build-Up
The process by which the body converts chemical energy from food into actual working energy (thanks to the ATP system) is called cellular respiration. When you exercise or otherwise put your muscles through great effort, the muscles will quickly lose oxygen. Our muscles can produce energy without oxygen for only a short time. This is called anaerobic activity. Anaerobic activity also causes the buildup of lactic acid. This is what causes your muscles to burn and eventually makes you slow down or stop. A-Lacy Reset improves cellular respiration and delays the build-up of lactic acid in the muscle cell. These things allow you to exercise harder for longer.
In summary a-Lacy’s Reset is a versatile ingredient that promotes fat loss, muscle gain and has powerful antioxidant benefits. It has plenty of scientific backing behind it and is a smart addition to PhenQ.
What Are The Other Ingredients In PhenQ?
Capsimax Powder is an extract of capsicum, otherwise known as hot peppers. Capsicum is a thermogenic booster that increases your body’s temperature in order to increase the metabolism and burn more calories.
Capsicum powder has been reputed to help you burn an extra 250 calories per day through the process of thermogenesis. Capsimax Powder also contains Vitamin B3 and piperine. Piperine is an extract from black pepper. It works with capsicum powder to further boost the metabolism to help you burn even more calories.
Here’s how fiber is going to help you to obliterate the fat:
- Fiber helps you to maintain low blood sugar levels, which, in turn, keeps your insulin level down.
- Fiber fills you up on low calorie foods
- Fiber is nature’s internal cleanser, promoting healthy digestion and the efficient elimination of waste.
- Fiber has been shown to dampen the release of the hunger and satiation hormones leptin and ghrelin.
- Fibrous carbs are very low calorie dense
- Fiber lowers LDL (bad) cholesterol
Fiber is a natural appetite suppressant. When you take it as part of a product like PhenQ, you will no longer feel the need to snack between meals. And, as you know, between meal snacking is a major contributor to weight gain.
Nopal cactus is also a rich source of amino acids to help you to maintain your muscle mass as you lose bodyfat.
Chromium Picolinate is a natural compound that helps to regulate your blood glucose levels. When you eat carbohydrate foods your blood is infused with sugar. As a response your body releases insulin which is designed to clear the sugar from the blood. However, this leads to a lowering of your blood sugar levels and cravings for more sugar. You’re going to feel a strong urge to reach for more carb rich food and the whole cycle is going to repeat. Chromium Picolinate helps to break this cycle by regulating the release of insulin and keeping your blood glucose levels in check.
Chromium is a mineral that we get from natural food sources. However, we do not get it in sufficient quantity to have an effect on our blood sugar levels. That is why it is important to get it through supplemental sources. Its inclusion in PhenQ will help to control your body’s response to carb intake, directly assisting your fat loss endeavors.
Caffeine is the world’s most popular stimulant. It is often added to pre-workout supplements in order to boost your energy levels and increase your training focus. As a fat loss aid, it is a thermogenic booster. It increases your core body temperature and boosts the metabolism to help you burn more calories.
Caffeine also has an appetite reducing effect, so that you feel full for longer. Caffeine is absorbed into the bloodstream with its peak level being achieved about 15 minutes after taking it. It will immediately go to work as a central nervous system stimulant. One of its jobs is to tell the brain to break down fat cells. It will also stimulate the release of the hormone epinephrine. This hormone is a trigger for the release of adrenaline. These hormones are known as the fight or flight chemicals. These will hype up your entire system. The energy that they get to do this comes from stored body fat which is broken down to create energy.
This controlled boosting of your body’s energy levels will directly boost your fat loss (remember that stored body fat is simply latent energy waiting to be called upon to power your body).
Studies have shown that caffeine can increase the resting metabolic rate, which is the number of calories you burn while inactive, by between 3-11 percent. This is a result of caffeine’s ability to increase the body’s temperature through thermogenesis. This will give you a noticeable energy boost. Research has also shown that these increases in the body’s metabolism will enhance the fat retuning process. In one study, the increase in fat burning was seen to be as high as 29 percent. It should be noted that these results occurred in people who were already lean. Obese study participants saw an average increase in fat burning of 10 percent, which is still a significant amount.
Calcium carbonate is the carbonic salt derived from calcium, it occurs naturally, is odorless and tasteless and is often added to weight loss products. Calcium is an essential mineral that all need a good amount of every day in order to function as we should. We need calcium to support the functioning of our nerves, blood vessels, muscles, organs, and to regulate the proper operation of our hor0omesn. On top of all of this, calcium is an important factor in the fat loss equation.
Ironically, a lot of people cut out calcium when they try to lose weight. That is because they eliminate dairy products, which are a key source of calcium. On the premise that dairy products will make them fat, they put all dairy on the no go list. There is some truth in the assertion that dairy can impede fat loss, but the unfortunate consequence of cutting out dairy is that you will be curtailing your intake of calcium.
That is what it is so important to get your calcium from alternative sources, such as through supplementation.
It helps to boost fat loss in the following ways . . .
- It acts as an appetite suppressant, especially when combined with a high protein diet
- It helps to naturally regulate your bodyweight. People who have a high calcium intake do not tend to gain the same amount of weight as other people as they age.
- It metabolizes fat
Research has shown that the calcium that is stored in our fat cells helps to regulate how the body stores additional fat. It was show that fat cells that contagion a lot of calcium will burn more fat.
When you do not have enough of a calcium intake, the body releases a hormone called calcitriol. This hormone signals fat cells to produce more fat. It also slows down fat oxidation. Clearly, then, you do not want calcitriol in your system. When you increase your consumption of calcium, the body’s secretion of calcitriol will lower significantly.
In one study, mice were fed with a high fat, high sugar diet for a period of six weeks. The average weight gain on this diet was 27 percent. One of the groups was given calcium carbonate, while the other group were given low-fat dry milk. The calcium carbonate group experienced an average weight loss of 42 percent, while the dry milk group ahd an average weight loss of just 8 percent.
It is clear, then, that there is sound research behind the inclusion of calcium carbonate in PhenQ. An extra bonus, of course, is that the increased calcium intake with strengthen your bones and teeth.
L-Carnitine Fumarate is variant of carnitine which is claimed to be a metabolism booster as well as energy enhancer. The Carnitine comes from the Latin word for flesh ‘carnis.’ This is also the derivative of the word carnivore.
In the body, L-carnitine is made from the two amino acids lysine and methionine. We store L-carnitine in our muscles, brain and heart. Men also store L-carnitine in their sperm.
The job of L-carnitine in the body is to transport long chain fatty acids to the cell’s mitochondria. There they are heavily involved in the production of energy. L-Carnitine also removes toxic byproducts of energy production out of your cells.
The solid research on the ability of l-carnitine to help improve fat loss is limited. There have been studies that show that cancer patients who took between 250 milligrams and 4 grams of L-carnitine each day had lower levels of fatigue. There is also research to show that it improves insulin sensitivity in those who have type 2 diabetes and improves mild cognitive performance in the elderly.
We cannot confidently support the claim that L-carnitine is an effective metabolism booster. The research simply does not support that claim.
PhenQ Reviews: Summing Up The Ingredients List
Two thing stands out about the ingredient list for PhenQ. Firstly, there is scientific backing for the weight loss claims of the majority of the ingredients (the exception being l-carnitine fumarate). You might think that is what you’d expect, but it is actually quite a rarity in the often-dodgy weight loss supplement industry.
The other standout here is that all of the ingredient dosages are clearly indicated on the product label. Again, this stands out in contrast to much of the competition, which hide their ingredient dosages behind what they call a proprietary blend. They do this because they know that the amounts of some of their more expensive ingredients are too low to bring about the desired effect. Not so with PhenQ. We are able to see the dosage and compare them to the recommended dosages to produce the results that you want to get out of them.
In general, the dosages are in line with those used in clinical trials. The exception is caffeine. The label states the daily dosage for each ingredient. The recommended daily dosage is two capsules. From this we can deduce that you have to cut the dosage on the label in half to get the per capsule dosage.
The label tells us that there are 150 mg of caffeine in a daily dosage of PhenQ. That means you get just 75 mg per capsule. That is half of the amount of caffeine in a regular cup of coffee. We feel that this is too low an amount to bring on the desired thermogenic and brain boosting benefits that caffeine has been added to this formula to bring about.
Recommended Daily Dosage
PhenQ should be taken twice per day. Take one capsule with breakfast and the other one when you have your lunch. If you take it too much after that you may find that the enhanced energy level will keep you from getting a good night’s sleep.
While you will visible results after 4 weeks’ worth of use, you should continue for at least 5 months to get the best results. Consistency is the key when it comes to weight loss, whether you are talking about nutrition, exercise or supplementation.
Is PhenQ Safe?
Are there any PhenQ side effects? Because it contains completely natural ingredients, PhenQ does not contain any of the side effects that are associated with phentermine. We’ve mentioned the side effects associated with phentermine above. Up until the release of a safe phentermine alternative, people have simply had to put up with such effects as dry mouth, constipation, impotence, sleep problems and high blood pressure. They knew how effective phentermine was and so were willing to put up with the bad along with the good.
PhenQ has the following similarities to phentermine . . .
Here is how PhenQ and Phentermine are different . . .
All of the ingredients in PhenQ are completely natural. The only ingredient that may pose potential problems for some users is caffeine. Some people may be intolerant or allergic to caffeine.
Each capsule of PhenQ provides you with 75 mg of caffeine which is about the same amount that you would get in a small cup of coffee. This is not enough to trigger the crash response which comes when people take higher dosages. If you take more than 300 mg at a time, you may experience an energy boost only to beg followed by a noticeable crash about 45 minutes later. It may also lead to tingling of the extremities, nervousness and headaches. For those reasons, you should stick to the daily recommended serving of 2 capsules per day, spaced out by about four hours.
Does PhenQ Really Work?
When taken on its own. PhenQ will do little for you in terms of fat loss. In that sense this is not a magic fat loss pill. The reality is that no such pill exists. However, when used in conjunction with a sensible, healthy eating program and a regular program of exercise this product will give you an extra boost to your fat loss efforts.
Unlike many other products on the market, PhenQ’s ingredient blends provides you with multiple actions to speed up your fat loss. This multi-pronged approach to weight loss is a key differentiator for this product.
PhenQ will attack your body fat in the following 5 ways . . .
PhenQ has now been on the market for several years. There are many, many positive PhenQ reviews online. Although it is difficult to determine how genuine online customer reviews are, many of these have the ring of truth. Based on the veracity of the ingredients, we believe that th majority of online reviews are, minded genuine. Here are a couple of examples of customer reviews describing what people claim to have achieved by using PhenQ . . .
I am a working woman and following the tough schedule for losing weight is not just my thing and that is why I started gaining weight with all those fast food and junk food items that I take it on the go as I never get enough time to relax and eat.
Working hours are already tough but then one of my colleagues (and a friend Rebecca Arnold) introduced me to PhenQ.
She said she used it when she gained weight after her first baby and PhenQ worked for her so it may have worked for me too.
Despite not taking this product very seriously, I thought to give it a try for the sake of my shape of the body that became a constant concern for me.
Oh gosh, I am literally happy to try it and have experienced the positive change in my weight. Although I have been using it just for one and half months and I have lost 17 pounds by now.
My presentations and appearance have improved a lot and all the credit goes to PhenQ.
I am willing to continue it further to get the desired weight goal.
I just crossed twenty and my doctor discovered my blood pressure and cholesterol levels were not normal.
He informed that I needed to lose my weight because I may have diabetes type two in a next few years if I continued the same lifestyle.
First of all, I was not ready to hear that kind of news, blood pressure at the age of 21, the doc must have been kidding but the irony was he was not joking.
My reports were abnormal and I was not clear what to do.
Then the same doc suggested me to try PhenQ, I had no option I was anxious about my health.
I took his advice and thank God, I took it because PhenQ worked for me.
I lost 25lbs within 12 weeks and now I am on fire to remove even this remaining excess weight and I know I will because I PhenQ to support me.
This supplement is just like a pal to me.

PhenQ is a stimulant and an amphetamine substitute. As such it will give you both a mental and a physical boost. Not in the traditional sense. You never want to go on a calorie restricted diet for a short period of time. Rather you should follow a sensible eating pattern that is based om frequent smaller meals, high levels of lean protein and healthy fats while restricting your intake of sugary carbs.
If you take PhenQ without following a healthy eating pattern you will probably be disappointed in the results you achieve. Remember. PhenQ is a supplement, not the main course!
The only people who should avoid taking PhenQ are people who have a chronic disease. Pregnant women should also avoid this product. PhenQ is suitable for both males and females.

What We Didn’t Like
PhenQ is an impressive fat loss supplement that stands out in a sea of mediocrity. There was a lot that impressed us with this product. However, there were a couple of things that we were not too happy about.
Firstly, all of the ingredients have sound scientific backing for their weight loss claims except for L-Carnitine Fumarate. As a result, this ingredient could have been left out.
We would also have liked to have seen an increased caffeine strength in PhenQ. Caffeine is the main stimulant in the product, But, at 75 mg per capsule is a little low to have a pronounced effect. If that dosage were boosted up to 125mg per capsule that would provide 250 mg per day. This would give a decent hit to your neurotransmitters without bringing on the crash effect.
Finally, the cost is a little high. This is especially so if you purchase a single bottle. It will cost you $US2.32 per day, which is a lot for a supplement. However, if you opt for the 3-bottle deal that per day cost will drop right back to $US1.26.
Our Final Verdict
PhenQ impressed us as a well-researched, cleverly constructed fat loss supplement that works through a number of different mechanisms to bring about lasting fat loss. The majority of the ingredients have plenty of clinical research to support their inclusion. The dosage on caffeine is a little low, but as an overall product it will work to supplement your weight loss efforts.
The price on the single bottle is a little high. As a result, we recommend that you buy PhenQ’s 3-bottle bundle, which brings the per bottle down by almost half!
Don’t forget – this product also comes with a full Money Back Guarantee!
Remember, finally, that PhenQ is a supplement. You must be following a sound nutrition plan and exercising if you want to see results. But, if you are doing those things PhenQ will bring the results that you want.
